The arm and shoulder area are both an aesthetic and functional areas of our body. People wear short-sleeved T-shirts and similar clothing on hot summer days, so they pay close attention to the appearance of their arms. The reasons for this attention include the loss of confidence in people whose arms do not appear aesthetic. If we count the two reasons that affect the external appearance of the arms, the first one is that the arms are fat and sagging. The second is that the arms are extremely thick. The skin on the upper part of the arm is very suitable for lubrication and sagging. Pregnancy, weight changes, seasonal features may play a role in causing this problem. For arm stretching, some of the patient's body characteristics are observed according to fatness, while others are observed to be extremely sagging. In this case, the appropriate treatment method should be determined and applied accordingly to the patient.
Arm Stretching Surgery
The removal of the fat layer in the inner and lower parts of the arm and the correction of the sagging part is called arm stretching surgery. Arm stretching should be performed in an operating room in the hospital using general anesthesia or sedation anesthesia. The anticipated average time to complete the operation is two hours. People can return to their homes after the operation when the necessary controls are completed. The elliptical area in the inner part of the arm, which create the sagging, is treated as to get rid of the skin and fat tissue. The operation requires an incision in the arm. Usually, this incision is opened in the inner part of the arm to prevent its appearance. This is medically allright. If the sagging of the arm is too much, the incision is enlarged by moving towards the armpit. When the arm stretching operation is complete, the arms are kept above for a certain period of time. In this way, any swelling that may occur is prevented from moving to the hands. Drainage is used to remove any bleeding that may occur after the operation. Arms are not fixed firmly, the arms can be moved by using elastic bandages. After the operation, the person may perform some of the daily duties, the day after the surgery, provided that it is not extreme. In the first two days after the operation, it is very important for the healing process, to keep the arms above and not to tire them too much. Elastic bandages and, the use of corset is recommended for approximately 2-3 weeks.
