Women with larger than normal and sagging breasts are people who have both cosmetic and health problems. The main problems experienced by women with oversized breasts:

- They have trouble choosing clothes, as it will fit their body, but they would have difficulty closing their front buttons .

- Breast overflows from the sides of the bra.

- They suffer from neck,back and shoulder pain .

- Posture disorders occur in the back parts such as humphback.

- They can't lie on their back in bed, they have trouble breathing.

- Rashes and redness occur under the breasts.

- They have difficulty in their daily physical, and doing sports is difficult.

- Having large breasts according to the size of the body, create a psychological trauma in the person in the society.

Breast reduction surgery is an aesthetic procedure in which both the skin of the breast and some breast tissue are removed. The results are great in good hands. A person's self-confidence increases as well as the increase in physical activities, and psychosocial results in which they find solutions to their health problems is all a good initiative.

Surgery can be done medically after the age of 18. However,it is important to remember that excessive weight loss, especially in the birth and breastfeeding process, can cause some kind of deformity in the breasts, all options should be considered. If possible, it should be left after birth or after the weight loss process is completed.

Relationship With Breast Cancer

Scientific studies have revealed that there is a connection between the size of the breast and breast cancer. The bigger the breast, bigger the risk of getting breast cancer. With breast reduction operation, due to the decrease in the volume of the breasts,  the chance of developing breast cancer will also reduce. It is an operation that reduces the possibility of breast cancer.

Will There Be A Scar On The Breast?

In breast reduction surgery,there is the possibility of an reverse T or a straight line scar, and this scar will become very faint in about a year or so and there will be no scars left. Sometimes there is the possibility of a mark depending on the person's genetic structure.

Planning

Breast reduction surgery requires experience, practice ,talent and knowledge.

Planning is made by taking into account many factors such as height , weight, chest wall diameter, width of shoulders and hips, base diameters of breasts. Planning and drawings on the body is the first step. Proper planning , proper surgery is indispensable for a good result. Wrong planning  will cause problems such as asymmetry in the breasts, one of the breast being large and the other breast being small, and the way the nipples look in different directions.

Preperation For Surgery

As with all surgeries, a rigorous preoperative process is required. The whole body should be checked systematically, breast USG and if there is an indication, a mammography should be done, the smoking should be stopped at least two weeks before,  use of certain vitamins, blood thinners,and additional supplements should be checked by your physician.

It is necessary to have a complete physician-patient cooperation, to keep the person under the control of the physician and to cooperate, and the communication should also be good.

The Operation

Breast reduction surgery is performed in hospital under general anesthesia under full sterilization conditions.

The surgery takes 3-4 hours on average. After the operation,  the patient has drains and it will be taken out after an average of 3 days. The duration of hospital stay varies from 1 to 3 days. The pain is minimal or absent.The healing process is between  10-14 days . It is recommended to use a special bra for a periof of 4-6 weeks.

Unintended Results That May Occur After Breast Reduction Surgery?

- partial or complete loss on the nipple

- temporary or permanent loss of feeling in the nipple

Do Breast Reduction Surgery Reduce The Milk?

If the milk glands and ducts are touched in the surgery, there may be problems or reduction in the amount of milk.  However, I am performing surgery with a technique that does not touch the milk glands and ducts in all fertile women and there is no problem with my patients.

As a result, large breasts (macromastia) are a disease that leads to both cosmetic and health problems. It is a problem that can be easily overcome today by a good and experienced surgeon.
